Every mod added since then has used a fresh account or a modding-only account to reduce the chances of anything like that happening again. Those two-year-old accounts you see - those are the only mods remaining from that time. Fresh accounts, fresh Discord, new security measures. There was an incident about two years ago where the mod team was under targeted attack and doxxed. Let me add to KadekiDev’s answer and try to clarify that whole situation from top to bottom. We will be reading and taking all feedback into consideration. The API changes definitely do not affect everyone, and we wonder whether the principles behind the protest are something you all care about. Would you be interested in LSF continuing to muck around? If so, how? And if you think we should do nothing, please let us know that too. The mod team is here to serve the LSF community first, before anything else. Right now, we’re looking to do something we should have done from the beginning – we’re asking you what you want. While many subreddits have also unprivated, some are continuing the protest in different ways. So for now we’re open, but we’re also open to possibilities. We’ve assumed that you all would not want this sub turned into another streamer-controlled PR operation, and we’ve made every effort to prevent that. They’ve tried to sneak onto the LSF mod team before. There’s also the very real possibility that LSF would get handed to a streamer or a streamer’s moderator. And rather than try to fix it, we’re pretty sure Reddit would just eliminate LSF entirely. Reddit’s baked-in tools cannot effectively deal with these things, and a new team might not even be aware how endemic such issues are on LSF. We have automatic protections against things like doxxing and known stalkers, both for users and streamers. Those are responsible for more than just flairing posts and preventing you from dropping slurs. Reddit would install a completely fresh team and remove all our tools. Some of us did want to let it go, but we’re pretty sure we know what would happen if we did. So why not just let it go, power-tripping jannies? Afraid to lose the OTK paychecks? We did not believe we had time to come up with alternatives, and so chose to open first. Their final message made it known that they would seize LSF imminently if it did not comply. Admins had already messaged us and other subreddits multiple times over the preceding days in an attempt to convince us to reopen. Your disappointment in the direction of the protest echoes our own – we’re not happy about it either, and so we’d like to be a little more transparent on how it happened. The mod team would like the community’s input on where to go from here. Please click here to read our rules in full detail before jumping into the subreddit.
